It is imperative to be able to strum a variety of rhythms and to be at ease in doing so. To facilitate this, we need to strum upwards as well as downwards. The following is given to help you get a fluent strumming action going.
It is not necessary to hit all the strings of the chord in the upward strum-just two or three of them will be fine. The key to this is rhythm. Keep a fluent and relaxed action!
